Yogurt Bread

This recipe makes a simple and delicious yogurt bread. It's soft, slightly tangy, and perfect for toasting or enjoying plain.

Ingredients
  

For the Bread
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the yogurt, milk, vegetable oil, sugar, and egg until well combined.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread evenly.
  6. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

You can add a teaspoon of vanilla extract to the wet ingredients for extra flavor. This bread is best enjoyed fresh, but can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
