Method
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, mix the mashed bananas, melted butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until combined.
- In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients. Mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle a few extra chocolate chips on top, if desired.
- Bake for 55 to 65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. If the top browns too quickly, loosely cover it with aluminum foil for the last 15 minutes of baking.
- Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before carefully removing it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For the best flavor and moisture, use bananas that are heavily spotted or almost black. If you prefer a less sweet bread, reduce the granulated sugar by 1/4 cup.
