Slow Roast Asian Beef

Ingredients
  

For the Beef
  • 1.5 kg Beef chuck roast
  • 1/2 cup Soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup Water
  • 2 tbsp Brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp Sesame oil
  • 4 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1 inch Ginger grated
For Serving
  • 1 bunch Green onions sliced
  • Cooked rice for serving

Method
 

  1. Place the beef chuck roast in your slow cooker.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, water, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger.
  3. Pour the sauce mixture over the beef in the slow cooker.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours, or until the beef is tender and shreds easily.
  5. Remove the beef from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks. Return the shredded beef to the sauce in the slow cooker and stir to coat.
  6. Serve the shredded beef over cooked rice, garnished with sliced green onions.

Notes

You can adjust the amount of brown sugar to your preference. If you don't have a slow cooker, you can adapt this recipe for an oven by braising the beef in a covered pot at 160°C (325°F) for 3-4 hours.
