Healthy Turkey Lettuce Wraps

Ingredients
  

For the Filling
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil
  • 1 pound Ground turkey
  • 1 medium Onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1/4 cup Soy sauce low sodium
  • 1 tablespoon Honey
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ginger grated
  • 1/4 teaspoon Red pepper flakes optional
For Serving
  • 8 Large lettuce leaves such as butter or iceberg
  • Optional toppings shredded carrots, chopped peanuts, cilantro

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Knife
  • Cutting board

Method
 

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add ground turkey and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned. Drain off any excess fat.
  3. Add chopped onion and cook until softened, about 3-5 minutes.
  4. Stir in minced garlic, soy sauce, honey, sesame oil, grated ginger, and red pepper flakes (if using). Cook for 1-2 minutes more, until fragrant.
  5. Spoon the turkey mixture into the lettuce leaves.
  6. Top with your favorite optional toppings and serve immediately.

Notes

You can substitute ground chicken or pork for the turkey. Adjust seasonings to your preference.
