Ingredients

  • 4 fillets Salmon About 6 ounces each, skin on or off
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Black pepper
For the Glaze
  • 1/4 cup Honey
  • 3 tbsp Soy sauce Use low sodium if preferred
  • 2 cloves Garlic Minced
  • 1 tsp Cornstarch Mixed with 1 tablespoon cold water

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Small bowl

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
  2. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Rub them lightly with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Place the fillets on the prepared baking sheet.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, and minced garlic.
  4. Bake the salmon for 10 minutes.
  5. While the salmon bakes, stir the cornstarch and water mixture into the honey garlic sauce. Heat this mixture in a small saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly until it thickens slightly, about 1 to 2 minutes. Remove from heat.
  6. Remove the salmon from the oven. Brush half of the thickened glaze over the tops of the fillets.
  7. Return the salmon to the oven and bake for another 5 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C) and the glaze is bubbly and slightly caramelized.
  8. Remove the salmon from the oven. Brush with the remaining glaze before serving.

Notes

For extra crispiness, you can briefly place the salmon under the broiler for the last minute of cooking, watching carefully to prevent burning the honey.
