Classic Banana Bread

Ingredients
  

Wet Ingredients
  • 3 large ripe bananas, mashed About 1 1/2 cups mashed
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1 large egg lightly beaten
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
Dry Ingredients
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the mashed bananas, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract until combined.
  3. In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients. Mix only until just combined. Do not overmix the batter.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  6. Bake for 55 to 65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before removing it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

Notes

For a richer flavor, you can substitute brown sugar for the granulated sugar. If you prefer a less dense bread, you can add 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts or pecans to the batter along with the dry ingredients.
