Ingredients

For the Stir-fry
  • 1 tablespoon Vegetable oil
  • 1 pound Ground beef
  • 1 medium Onion chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger grated
  • 4 cups Cabbage shredded
For the Sauce
  • 1/4 cup Soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon Cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons Water

Equipment

  • Large skillet or wok
  • Knife
  • Cutting board

Method

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, cornstarch, and water. Set aside.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned. Drain off any excess grease.
  3. Add chopped onion, minced garlic, and grated ginger to the skillet. Cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Add shredded cabbage to the skillet and stir-fry for 3-5 minutes, or until the cabbage is tender-crisp.
  5. Pour the prepared sauce over the beef and cabbage mixture. Stir well to coat everything and cook for another 1-2 minutes until the sauce has thickened.
  6. Serve hot, optionally over rice.

Notes

For a spicier dish, add a pinch of red pepper flakes with the garlic and ginger. You can also add other vegetables like sliced carrots or bell peppers.
