  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp Baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 cup Unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 Large eggs
  • 0.5 cup Milk
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add the softened butter to the dry ingredients. Beat with an electric mixer on low speed until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. In a separate small bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract together.
  5. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing on medium speed until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
  7. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before turning it out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
