Cheddar Chive Dinner Rolls

Make these simple Cheddar Chive Dinner Rolls using self-raising flour. They are quick to prepare and bake until lightly browned.

Ingredients
  

Rolls
  • 2 cups self raising flour
  • 60 g butter
  • 125 g tasty cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped chives
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 egg yolk, lightly beaten
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt

  • Oven tray

Method
 

  1. Sift flour and garlic salt into a bowl.
  2. Rub in the butter until the mixture looks like breadcrumbs.
  3. Add the cheese and chives.
  4. Stir in enough milk and water to make a sticky dough.
  5. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface.
  6. Knead until the dough is smooth.
  7. Shape the dough into 4 portions in a bread roll shape.
  8. Cut 3 slits across the top of each roll.
  9. Place the rolls on a greased oven tray.
  10. Brush the top of the rolls with the beaten egg yolk.
  11. Cook at 190 degrees Celsius / 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  12. Cook for 20 to 25 minutes until lightly browned and cooked through.

Notes

These rolls are best served warm shortly after baking.
