- In a bowl, whisk together all ingredients for the teriyaki sauce except the cornstarch slurry. Add the chicken pieces and toss to coat evenly. Let marinate for at least 10 minutes.
- Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
- Add the marinated chicken to the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the chicken is cooked through and slightly caramelized.
- While the chicken is cooking, pour the remaining marinade into a small saucepan. Add the cornstarch slurry and bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens. This should take about 1-2 minutes.
- Once the chicken is cooked, toss it with the thickened teriyaki sauce. Serve immediately.
Notes
Serve this teriyaki chicken over rice with steamed vegetables for a complete meal. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions if desired.
