Ingredients

  • 1 pound Brussels sprouts Fresh stalk preferred for crispiness
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil Or avocado oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Balsamic Vinegar Optional

Equipment

  • Air fryer

Method

  1. Prepare the Brussels sprouts by trimming the ends and cutting them in half. If you are using a large amount, you may want to cut them into quarters.
  2. Place the cut Brussels sprouts in a bowl. Drizzle with olive oil and toss to coat them evenly.
  3. Add the garlic powder, salt, and pepper to the sprouts. Toss again until the seasoning is distributed.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius).
  5. Place the seasoned sprouts in the air fryer basket in a single layer if possible. Do not overcrowd the basket; work in batches if necessary.
  6. Air fry for 12 to 15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through the cooking time, until the sprouts are tender inside and crispy outside.
  7. Remove the sprouts from the air fryer. If you are using balsamic vinegar, drizzle it over the hot sprouts and toss quickly before serving.

Notes

For ingredient substitutions, you can use avocado oil instead of olive oil. If you do not have garlic powder, you can use 1 small clove of minced fresh garlic, but add it halfway through cooking to prevent burning.
For serving suggestions, these pair well with chicken or steak for a weeknight meal, or serve them as a simple side dish for holiday gatherings.
